HAMILTON — Hamilton Police are recruiting residents for a community panel that will help interpret the force’s race and identity-based data and recommend improvements to policing.

Applications close October 31, 2026. The October 6 recruitment notice says applicants do not need expertise in data or a background in policing.

Panel members will bring community experience to the findings, raise questions about issues needing attention and contribute to recommendations on transparency and accountability. Police are encouraging applications from different racialized communities, age groups and parts of Hamilton.

The force says the first panel helped develop and implement its data strategy and submitted 12 recommendations. The next panel is intended to bring community perspectives into the strategy’s following phase.

The recruitment notice provides an application link. It announces an opportunity for public participation, rather than new findings about how particular communities experience policing.
