Current Investigates: tough questions, public answers

Our Hamilton-first accountability series welcomes first-hand accounts and public-interest concerns involving elected officials, civil servants and the services residents rely on, as well as landlords, employers and businesses.

Tell us what happened, which office or organization is involved, what you have already asked, and what response you received. Identify relevant dates, records and the question you believe still needs an answer. We examine evidence, seek responses and follow up; a tip is a reporting lead, not an established finding of wrongdoing.

Share a Current Investigates story lead. Begin with a brief summary; do not attach sensitive material to ordinary email.

Have information that may be in the public interest? The Northern Current welcomes news tips, documents and first-hand accounts that may help us investigate an important story.

Protecting Sensitive Information

No ordinary online channel can guarantee confidentiality. Until The Northern Current announces a dedicated secure submission method, contact the newsroom first without attaching or describing highly sensitive material. We can then discuss an appropriate next step.

What Happens Next

Submitting a tip does not guarantee publication or a response. Information may be reviewed, verified and compared with other sources before any editorial decision is made. We will not knowingly identify a confidential source without consent, except where disclosure is legally compelled.
