WINNIPEG — Nikolaj Ehlers delivered the decisive goal against his former team Saturday as Carolina defeated the Jets 3–2 at Canada Life Centre.

Winnipeg led twice in the October 17 game, but could not turn either advantage into a victory. Ehlers broke the final tie on a power play 6:43 into the third period, giving the Hurricanes their first lead.

Two Jets leads disappear

After a scoreless opening period, Mark Scheifele put Winnipeg ahead at 4:23 of the second. Mark Jankowski answered on the power play at 8:19.

Alex Iafallo restored the Jets' advantage at 10:59, finishing a play involving Adam Lowry. Jesperi Kotkaniemi then redirected Shayne Gostisbehere's shot at 16:50 to make it 2–2 before the intermission.

Carolina held that score until Ehlers' winner and protected its lead through the remaining minutes. The result extended the Hurricanes' winning streak to seven games and handed Winnipeg a second consecutive loss.
